AutoblogGreen has a great review of the Tesla roadster.
This car can go 0-60 in 4 seconds, and goes 200 miles on a single charge. Making it the not only one of the most powerful electric cars, but also the first practical electric car.
No matter where you sit on the global warming debates, reducing dependence on oil as a main energy source is a good thing. And a car like this enables that to become a reality.
Right now it’s a little out of the price range of a normal person. But now that the technology has been proven, I’m sure that it won’t belong until it becomes available to the rest of us.
License to Rant is a blog completely devoted to collecting custom license plates. The plates come from all over the US and say the strangest things. Everyone thinks it’s fun to get custom text on license plates, but since a license plate has limited room, sometimes people have to abbreviate. Which makes for some very interesting and funny statements.
Check out the site for all of the plates and the guesses on what they might mean. License To Rant
Would you believe that the largest man made tornado in the world is in a car museum?
Yep, that picture you see in the post is of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The architect didn’t want to build the fire doors required by the local fire code. he thought it would mess up his design.
So instead, he built a tornado. the goal being to channel smoke out of the building in the event of a fire. The artificial tornado, which was never meant as an attraction, has now become a major attraction at the museum.
The car above has got to be the strangest looking concept car I’ve ever seen. Usually concept cars will be overly sporty or invoke thoughts of raw power. It seems that for Japanese car makers, concept cars this year all invoke cartoonlike feelings.
The car above is being shown at the Tokyo auto show by Honda and is called PUYO. The name is meant to give the user feelings of softness. And the car is literally soft! The entire outer body of the car is made from a soft gel like substance. So it really is soft.
Interesting Thing of The Day, a great site for offbeat and forgotten information, has an amazing article about the history of steam powered cars.
Before reading the article, I had always assumed that the engineering and practicality hurdles of a steam powered car had never been solved. Turns out that the Doble steam car had all the major problems of a steam powered car solved back in the 1930’s. The only real reason why it never took off is because of the much higher, at least at that time, cost of building a steam powered car when compared to an internal combustion car. Even more amazing, is that the cars were almost emissions free!

Time magazine has a list of the 50 worst cars ever produced. Some of the cars are real lemons. Making you wonder why anyone ever bought them in the first place. The following quote is from the entry for the 1956 Renault Dauphine pictured above.
“It took the drivers at Road and Track 32 seconds to reach 60 mph, which would put the Dauphine at a severe disadvantage in any drag race involving farm equipment.”
